3DS MAX Plug-In Demo Modules

This WEB page describes how to download and install the demonstration version of Okino's plug-in converter modules for 3D Studio MAX. The plug-ins are included for free with each commercial copy of Okino's PolyTrans and NuGraf software.

Demo requirements:

Please note that these 3DS MAX demo plug-ins will not function with a commercial release of PolyTrans or NuGraf (you are also warned not to use these demo plug-ins with any illegitimate copy of NuGraf or PolyTrans).

The two plug-in modules act as a bi-directional "gate way" between 3D Studio MAX and PolyTrans/NuGraf. They make all the supported file formats easily accessible via the File/Import or File/Export menus of 3DS MAX. For example, SoftImage databases can be read/written directly from within the 3DS MAX user interface. Please note that these plug-ins are for 3DS MAX itself and not for PolyTrans or NuGraf (as are all the other Okino plug-in modules).

For additional information please refer to these WEB pages:

Download Instructions

Important! If you previously downloaded a demo copy of NuGraf or PolyTrans prior to March 1998 then you must first upgrade your demo copy with an incremental patch. Click here to visit the demo update page from where you can download the 5MB incremental update for NuGraf or PolyTrans. The MAX plug-ins will not operate properly without this patch.

The 1MB ZIP file containg the plug-in modules can be downloaded from the Okino WEB site or from the Okino FTP site.

To download the file from our FTP site using your WEB browser click here and download the ZIP file to the directory where you have previously installed NuGraf or PolyTrans.

To download the file by directly logging into our FTP site, first start up a DOS shell and change to the directory where NuGraf or PolyTrans is installed then execute these commands:

	ftp ftp.okino.com
	login = anonymous
	password = (anything)
	cd demos/polytrans
	binary
	get max_demo.zip
	bye

Next, use WinZIP to un-zip the "max_demo.zip" file. Alternatively, execute "pkunzip -e -d max_demo.zip" from a DOS command line. This will create a new sub-directory called "3dsmax" which contains the installation instructions (install.txt) and three further sub-directories containing the 3DS MAX 1.2, 2.0 and 2.5 plug-in modules.

Lastly, read the "install.txt" file located in the "3dsmax" directory which explains how to install the plug-ins for 3DS MAX 1.2 or 2.x.

If you encounter problems with this installation process, or you cannot get the MAX plug-in modules to function, then please contact support@okino.com.
